Influence and Motivation
Background & Objectives
Vacherin, a leading provider of catering and hospitality services, approached Impact Factory to deliver an Influencing and Motivation programme for their team of current and aspiring managers. Alice Barrett, Head of Entrée, wanted to equip her managers with the skills crucial for influencing and motivation.
This involves a deeper understanding and more effective response to the diverse range of personalities within their teams. She aimed to ultimately strengthen their ability to influence and motivate others effectively, which requires influencing and motivation skills.
The broader aim was to enhance collaboration, increase initiative-taking, and build greater confidence in people management across the business.
The Objectives of the Training Included:
- Developing tools to influence and motivate staff
- Encouraging effective delegation and ownership
- Handling difficult conversations with greater ease
- Understanding what drives people and how to manage pushback
- Building confidence in leadership and communication styles
Programme Overview
Delivered by Senior Training Consultants James Waters and Tom Bodell, the programme was highly participative. The event was designed to address the team’s current challenges.
Delegates were encouraged to contribute to shaping the day’s agenda from the very beginning. They participated in a series of hands-on activities, frameworks, and discussions designed to enhance their personal impact and relational agility, while also naturally developing their influence and motivation.
Rather than a fixed model of management, the session focused on building insight and adaptability. This focus allowed participants to discover which influencing styles work best for them. It also helped them learn how to bring their teams with them through clarity, curiosity, and motivation.

The training course exceeded my expectations regarding how this was led and taught throughout the day. The method of learning was much more effective than sitting down and listening. Taking part in each part of the training was a great way of learning.
I was expecting a more traditional format of training, but instead it was a more interactive, inspiring training which can be put into use right away. I would certainly love to participate more in this kind of interactive, inspiring training.
It was a genuine pleasure for Tom and me to work with such an engaged and enthusiastic group during the Influencing and Motivation Skills training. Your openness to trying new techniques and your active participation made the session both enjoyable and impactful from our perspective as trainers.
We’re confident that the tools and approaches explored will serve you well, and we’d love to hear how you apply them in your work. Whether you have questions or want to share a success story, we’re always happy to stay connected.
Thank you again for your energy and curiosity throughout the session!
