Presenting With Slides
Background & Objectives
Shell Netherlands reached out to Impact Factory with a desire to enhance their team’s presentation skills. We were excited to collaborate on developing a “Presenting with Slides” training session that would empower participants and boost their confidence in delivering impactful presentations.
This was intended for members of the Performance and Analytics team within the Shell Lubricants Business. As part of a global team supporting front-line Account Managers and Marketing, the delegates frequently present using slides to both internal leadership and external stakeholders. They do so across a range of cultural and professional contexts.
Programme Overview
The goal of the session was to strengthen the team’s ability to deliver clear, confident, and compelling presentations. This was particularly aimed at communicating complex or data-heavy content. With storytelling, clarity, and audience engagement identified as key focus areas, the session was positioned as high-impact. It was also practical training to improve both structure and delivery.
The session was delivered remotely as a pilot half-day workshop. It was tailored to the team’s real-world presenting scenarios. Participants were encouraged to reflect in advance on what makes presentations work — or fall flat. They were also encouraged to bring slides from previous presentations for reflection and discussion, focusing on how these slides impacted their effectiveness.
Emphasis was placed on helping delegates strike a balance between technical detail and narrative clarity. The session examined how visual design, structure, and delivery style work in tandem. This cooperation serves to elevate a message and keep an audience engaged — particularly in virtual settings.
With a mix of experience levels in the room, the session created space for personal reflection. It also provided room for peer learning and practical application. Delegates left with insights they could apply immediately. Additionally, they gained tools to enhance their presence, clarity, and structure.
