Background & Objectives
NormCyber extended an invitation for us to conduct an Advanced Presentation Skills workshop tailored specifically for a select group of senior team members. The aim was to refine their existing presentation strengths, deepen confidence for high-stakes internal and external presentations, and provide practical, actionable tools to enhance impact—whether presenting in person or online.
Programme Overview
This was a highly interactive, one-day session designed to stretch participants’ comfort zones in a supportive and collaborative environment. Each participant brought a real-world presentation to work with, creating an immediate connection between learning and practical application. The session combined peer feedback, expert coaching, and real-time experimentation with techniques for structure, delivery, and audience engagement. These elements were crucial in fostering Advanced Presentation Skills among attendees.
Key Content
- Shared personal experiences of good and bad presentations to anchor learning and raise self-awareness
- Explored individual communication styles and how to amplify authenticity for greater impact
- Demonstrated techniques for hot starts, structuring content persuasively, and crafting a memorable close
- Reinforced the value of visual storytelling and avoiding ‘slideuments’—using slides as a support tool, not the main event
- Developed confidence in using the B button (to blank the screen) and anchoring audience attention through body language and voice
- Practised delivery in live scenarios with feedback focused on energy, connection, and adaptability—especially in online settings
- Introduced tools for managing nerves, spreading eye contact, using pauses effectively, and adapting energy for different audiences
Desired Outcomes
This workshop not only improved general presentation skills but also specifically targeted advanced presentation skills. By the end of the day, each participant had strengthened their individual presenting style, built practical skills to apply immediately in high-stakes meetings and pitches, and gained tools to prepare and deliver with more clarity and presence. The session also led to a greater peer support and feedback culture, with a dedicated post-course page of follow-up resources to sustain momentum.
