Train the Trainer Programme Background and Objectives
Independent Age engaged Impact Factory to deliver a comprehensive Train the Trainer programme aimed at equipping internal trainers with the skills, confidence, and practical techniques to deliver engaging, effective training sessions. The programme was designed to enhance facilitation skills, boost confidence in managing both in-person and virtual sessions, and improve the overall training experience for participants. Clearly, this is why such a programme to train trainers is essential in today’s environment.
Programme Overview
The programme was delivered over two days: an initial in-person day focused on foundational facilitation skills, followed by a second online day to build confidence in virtual training delivery. Throughout this entire trainer programme, participants could refine their abilities in diverse settings.
Day One (In-Person)
The session covered key elements including:
- Setting the tone: room setup, body language, and participant engagement
- The qualities of an effective trainer
- The Training Cycle: starting with “Why?” and aligning aims, objectives, and outcomes
- Understanding and addressing different learning styles
- Managing challenging questions with positive language
- Confidence-building techniques and practical warm-ups
Day Two (Online)
Focused on adapting facilitation to virtual environments, including: Through the trainer programme, the participants learned how to adapt to digital challenges.
- Engagement techniques for remote participants (camera use, emojis, and breakout rooms)
- Use of digital tools like whiteboards and chat functions
- Framing, lighting, and posture for effective virtual presence
- Managing technology challenges proactively
- Practical workshops to rehearse and refine training delivery
Throughout both days, participants practised key skills through role-plays, group discussions, and peer feedback, culminating in individual commitments to apply new techniques in their training. Essentially, these commitments marked the successful conclusion of the train-the-trainer programme.
